Mary Kubica never fails. This was a super fast paced thriller that is sure to keep you on the edge of your seat. Mary has a talent that will always keep you guessing what's going to happen next. Each chapter I read my mind switched on what I thought was going to happen didn't. With thrillers I always try and figure it out before the reveal. Well, I was wrong on this one, but it didn't disappoint. If you're a fan of thrillers, and somehow have yet to read a Mary Kubica book, I would say now is the time to start. Oh, and let me not forget the cover. The cover ( at least the US cover, apologies if it is different where you are.) is mostly a beautiful shade of purple, over a bridge. The purple although pretty looks mysterious, and sinister. The bright yellow title text shows nice too. I think it's really eye catching. Be sure to pick this one up for you sprint/summer reads.

Alexandra Conradhttp://www.blogger.com/profile/09660856426645295662noreply@blogger.com0tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-3877650554798826786.post-9840692546603648242024-03-03T07:08:00.001-05:002024-03-03T07:08:28.547-05:00Dear Hanna by Zoje Stage (Revew)<section class="ReviewText" style="background-color: white; box-sizing: border-box; color: #1e1915; font-family: "Proxima Nova", Montserrat, Arial, sans-serif; font-size: 16px; margin-bottom: 1.6rem; position: relative;">

Thank you to Netgalley, and the publisher for a chance to review this.

I've read all of Zoje Stage's books, and was very eager to read this one. This is a stand alone sequel to her debut 'Baby Teeth' If you've never read Zoje before, now would be a wonderful time to start. I started with 'Baby Teeth' being drawn in by the cover, and synopsis. When I found out a sequel was coming I squealed with excitement. This stand alone sequel is great, because it doesn't matter if you've read her debut or not. Read them in any order. I had actually planned on re-reading 'Baby Teeth' but I didn't. In 'Baby Teeth' Hanna is a child, in ' Dear Hanna' she's an adult. It was a thrilling slow burn, of terror, and horror. I kept reading, and didn't want to put the book down. If you like books on evil children, then I suggest you pick this one up. Sure, she's not a child anymore, but it shows that evil can still lurk.
Told mostly between letters of Hanna, and her brother Goose. You find out more of what goes on in her head, and the type of relationships she holds. Be ready for a fun thrill ride this summer, and don't leave this one behind.

<div class="MyReviewCard__row" style="align-items: center; background-color: white; box-sizing: border-box; color: #1e1915; display: flex; font-family: "Proxima Nova", Montserrat, Arial, sans-serif; font-size: 16px; justify-content: space-between; margin-bottom: 1.2rem;">

Alexandra Conradhttp://www.blogger.com/profile/09660856426645295662noreply@blogger.com0tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-3877650554798826786.post-62091574139072391962024-02-27T08:52:00.005-05:002024-02-27T08:52:56.033-05:00William by Mason Coile (Review)

Thank you to Netgalley and the publisher for a chance to read this.

I first heard about William from a friend on Facebook, and saw the cover, and read the description, and knew I had to read it. I love how it was set in the mind of a child, and It was absolutely terrifying. I myself currently don't have any human children, but I love stories with creepy kids. Although Bela wasn't exactly creepy, what was happening was just that. The whole time I felt unsafe myself from the entity in this book. This will leave you screaming, and wanting to run, but also wanting more. As a horror fan, this was right up my ally. This one will leave you wanting to hide under the covers, and sleep with the light on.
Alexandra Conradhttp://www.blogger.com/profile/09660856426645295662noreply@blogger.com0tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-3877650554798826786.post-57695733411048614462024-01-10T08:32:00.001-05:002024-01-10T08:32:10.300-05:00The Patient by Teri Terry (Review)

Thank you to Netgalley, and the publisher for a chance to review this.

This was an incredible fast paced thriller. The bright yellow background with the knitted pink heart I think is great. I enjoyed the craftiness of the twists, I didn't want to put my Kindle down. Sometimes, I think it can be more than we think. I half liked it, half didn't. I love the idea of food, and murder. This I think did a good job at that. I do think it was a little too long. Some scenes dragged out for me, and I had to set it down. To me it wasn't as thrilling as I'd have hoped either, but that's my preference. I do like that it was inspired by a true crime though, and I do love true crime. I'll have to look into the actual case itself.

Alexandra Conradhttp://www.blogger.com/profile/09660856426645295662noreply@blogger.com0tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-3877650554798826786.post-72729659070982533192023-12-31T06:44:00.003-05:002023-12-31T06:44:47.095-05:00Rabbit Hole by Kate Brody (Review)

Thank you to Netgalley, and the publisher for a chance to review this.

I was really excited for this book. The whole idea is amazing. The execution for me wasn't the best. I guess I expected more. It had some really wonderful parts, then other parts were extremely slow, and I struggled to get through. If you don't like animal deaths, then pass on this book. There is a scene near the end that deals with it. It was a tough scene to read, and I read a lot of extreme horror. As a debut, I think this worked well, and look forward to what Kate Brody comes up with next.
Alexandra Conradhttp://www.blogger.com/profile/09660856426645295662noreply@blogger.com0tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-3877650554798826786.post-40810804393439486532023-12-22T14:29:00.004-05:002023-12-22T14:29:36.073-05:00The Child at my Door by Sam Vickery (Review)

Thank you Netgalley for a copy to read, and review

This was a fast paced thriller from start to finish. It's wonderful, and creative.

I found the story itself pretty fast paced. I liked how it went back and forth between two time lines. It wasn't terribly scary, but it did have some thrills. I think it was meant to be a little campy. I loved the references to Christmas movies it had throughout. I've read a few others by him, and he doesn't disappoint. The title alone already makes you look twice, and look at that incredible cover! If you're familiar with Ralston's work, yes there are some triggers, so this isn't for everyone, but it was a fun ride. I am normally not big into vampires, but this one was good.

It was fun, and gory. If you're into fun shocking horror, and aren't triggered by much, or nothing bothers you give this (and his other books a go). if you are easily triggers I would skip this (and his others.) I myself love horror, and rarely am offended by anything. I will be looking forward to Duncan's next book.
Alexandra Conradhttp://www.blogger.com/profile/09660856426645295662noreply@blogger.com0tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-3877650554798826786.post-49556792116230525452023-12-13T07:31:00.004-05:002023-12-13T07:31:41.400-05:00Mother Knows Best Edited by Lindy Ryan (Review)

Thank you to Netgalley, and the publisher for a chance to review this book.

This was so much fun. Very Mariah Carey vibes with this one. I myself can't stand her song, This book was fun. It wasn't the best, but it did have it's good moments too. I found some bits to be more enjoyable than others, and the writing itself didn't pull me in as much as the story. I suggest this if your looking for a short fun thriller for the holiday season.
Alexandra Conradhttp://www.blogger.com/profile/09660856426645295662noreply@blogger.com0tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-3877650554798826786.post-24174242118713661282023-10-26T07:36:00.003-04:002023-10-26T07:36:31.160-04:00No One Saw It Coming by Susan Lewis (Review)

Thank you to the publisher, and Netgalley for a copy to review.

I liked it. I admit it did start out a little slow, but as I kept reading it got better. I was trying to keep the characters straight, but I think the author might also of been purposefully trying to throw us off, but i could be wrong about that. I partially guessed something part way through, but was still shocked at the actual reveal since i wasn't fully correct. I would say this is a great read for the mystery reader who isn't too much into the thriller genre. It has some thrills, but to me is more of a drama/mystery. It definitely keeps the reader guessing still which is always fun. If you decide to read this, I hope you enjoy.
Alexandra Conradhttp://www.blogger.com/profile/09660856426645295662noreply@blogger.com0tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-3877650554798826786.post-59361220811901951192023-10-23T13:47:00.002-04:002023-10-23T13:47:27.543-04:00Everyone on This Train is a Suspect by Benjamin Stevenson (Review)

Thank to the publisher, and Netgalley for a copy to review.

I really enjoyed this. I had just finished the first one, then got to enjoy the sequel. I enjoyed both, but this one a bit more than the first. Just like the first one, the title is very eye catching. I like it.

This was a fun thrill ride through the Australian desert. Both books are set in Australia, I've never been to Australia. I've heard it's beautiful...and hot. I think the setting of a train is perfect, and although it's been done before, it never gets old. This one was a fun, and fast paced. If you're into mysteries, murder, and humor then please check this out. I would say you don't have to read the first one if you don't want to. It could work to read them in any order, or if you choose as a stand alone, but I suggest to do the author a favor, and read both of them. I think he would really like that. Happy Reading everyone.

Alexandra Conradhttp://www.blogger.com/profile/09660856426645295662noreply@blogger.com0tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-3877650554798826786.post-89611190427826732562023-10-12T17:04:00.003-04:002023-10-12T17:04:22.239-04:00The Night of the Storm by Nishita Parekh (Review)

Thank you to the publisher, and Netgalley for a copy in exchange for an honest review.

I was extremely excited about this book, but was left a little down. First I do want to highlight some good points. First, the cover is amazing! It really sets the mood, and it does scream creepy, unsettling, and thrilling. Good job.

The book is good, but it's not amazing. I loved the setting. A house in the middle of a hurricane. That's great. I was sadly just a little let down. I didn't really like any of the characters, but maybe I really wasn't supposed to like anyone? The family is really dysfunctional, which does set the mood. I know I wouldn't want to be trapped in a house with just my family for company. I do like how the story unfolded as the night went on,and the storms got stronger. The mix between affairs, and drama was not as exciting in this as I've read in other thrillers.

I will also say this. I'm not going to give up on Nishita Parekh. I think she has lots of potential, and just because this wasn't an amazing hit for me. It may be for someone else. Like I said, even though I didn't love it. I did like it. Thank you again for a chance to review this novel.
Alexandra Conradhttp://www.blogger.com/profile/09660856426645295662noreply@blogger.com0tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-3877650554798826786.post-71924744426013900442023-10-08T11:41:00.002-04:002023-10-08T11:41:32.676-04:00The Bachelorette Party by Carissa Ann Lynch (Review)

Thank you to the publisher for a review copy.

This was a fun fast paced thriller. I didn't know where it was going to go next. It's set in NOLA, now I've never visited, but I hope to someday, but from pictures I've seen I still felt like I was there. The characters were very interesting. It's a big mix of women who although seem like it should be a happy time all seem like they want to pull each others teeth out. I myself don't really have any friends so it was kind of great reading about this group of so called friends not get along. I guess I'm the weird one that doesn't like happy endings to what i read. I think this would be a wonderful thriller to anyone. It would make a great intro if you're new to the genre. I hope to read more from this author again. Let's bring on the thrills, and leave the coconut out of it. :p
Alexandra Conradhttp://www.blogger.com/profile/09660856426645295662noreply@blogger.com0tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-3877650554798826786.post-37049489003062602062023-09-27T14:27:00.001-04:002023-09-27T14:27:06.772-04:00Twenty-Seven Minutes By Ashley Tate (Review)

Thank you to the publisher, and Netgalley for a chance to review this.

This was a pretty decent read. A little slow paced, but it was good. To me none of the characters are really likable, but I think they're written that way for a reason. With most thrillers I am still shocked by the ending, but I kind of guessed it with this one. Not 100%, but I knew something definitely wasn't right with the accident scene. If you're new to the thriller genre, and don't want anything too heavy I'd start with this one. I will say I liked it. I didn't love it, but I liked it.
Alexandra Conradhttp://www.blogger.com/profile/09660856426645295662noreply@blogger.com0tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-3877650554798826786.post-65366769376103239082023-09-14T15:38:00.002-04:002023-09-14T15:38:33.845-04:00Puzzle House By Duncan Ralston (Review)

Thank you to Netgalley for a copy to read, and review.

This book doesn't stop. I heard 'The Mystery Guest' was coming, and knew I had to read it right away. I love the Molly character. She is absolutely perfect. The Mystery Guest involves another murder. I love my books filled with murder, and twists too. This kept me guessing so much. I also love how there are two time lines in this book. I love hearing some of Molly's backstory.
This is a must read if you are a fan of 'The Maid', or mysteries in general. I loved this. I liked it more than 'Falling' it was incredibly fast-paced. I felt like I was trapped with all the characters waiting for rescue. I felt the plane fall, the water rise as it starts to flood the aircraft. Every move they made.

I just devoured the book. I wonder what TJ Newman will do next. I hope she keeps these airplane tragedies going. Although that might increase some fear in all of us. Some horror and thrills can be good sometimes. Right?

The cover is awesome as well, just like in 'falling'. The cover in any book I think really speaks a lot about a book. I know we've always been told to never judge a book by it's cover. But I disagree with that. The cover is the first thing a lot of us see. Even before a synopsis. It can speak a lot about the book. The cover can not only tell the genre of a book, or even the author if they use similar styles or the same designer, but it helps it bring life to books, and helps attract the reader. That's what attracted me to TJ Newman's books. (As well as many other authors works).

If you're a fan of 'Falling' TJ Newman's first novel, I highly highly suggest you check this one out.
