Doll Bones by Holly Black
4/5 Stars
Read: Jan 10th 2015
Dolls. Innocent toys right? Wrong. Dolls are creepy to begin with. Take a look at Annabelle or Robert the Doll. I'll let you do the googling on them yourself. Sure we played with them as kids and so do the kids in this story, but not all dolls are so innocent. Like the two examples I gave above. The three kids in this story Zach,Poppy and Alice are friends. Zach's dad wants him to grow up more and stop playing with dolls (action figures) but when a story comes up about an old doll they call "the queen" about a girl haunting the doll, they decide they need to put her soul to rest.
This is an amazing adventure story that will have you at the edge of your seat. I was turning page after page wondering what would happen on their journey. I kept looking back at the cover, and the drawing of the doll just staring at me. It was haunting. Not saying it would of been creepy if she blinked...cause uh yea that would be creepy too. But anyways, READ THIS BOOK. It wont take long it's another one I found as a middle-grade novel, but it's worth it!!!

Wonder (review)
Wonder by RJ Palacio
4/5 Stars
Dates read: Jan 6-10
Wonder was a very quick read. I actually read most of it in a day. Sometimes my goodreads 'read' dates are a little off from me forgetting to update my statuses...oops. Well back to the review.
Wonder is about a boy named August "Auggie" Pullman. Auggie isn't "normal" he has deformities that make him a bit insecure. He's a nice boy and just wants to be normal and fit in with everyone else. Throughout the book, Auggie faces lots of challenges, but he gets through. You'll laugh and cry.
This is a middle-grade novel, but I think anyone who has been picked on,struggled to fit in, or just wants to read a good story no matter what the age I think would enjoy reading "Wonder"

Review for 2 postcard books by Wilhelm Staehle ('Hugs and Misses', and 'Stars and Swipes'
A review for 'Stars and Swipes' and 'Hugs and Misses' both by Wilhelm Staehle
Both books are full of 30 postcards each.
They are really funny. With silhouette images
historical humor, humor on love and more.
These are definitely ones to share with friends and
family. I would mail them, but they're too pretty for me to part with. I've actually thought of framing some, although some would be a little awkward to hang, and make better conversation pieces. Theirs at least one postcard for everyone in these books. I bet even the family dog. (I couldn't test that out since I don't have a dog...I don't have a pet at all. :( ) So if anyone has their pets opinion please let me know. I also should add these would make great coffee table
books and or stocking stuffers and gifts for any
occasion.

Even though I never worked retail. I tried to place myself right in Orsk. I really enjoyed this book. I almost read it inone night, and probably would have if I hadn't worked the next days.
I loved that it was set about an hour from where I live. Sad thing is there is no Ikea, or Orsk for that matter nearby me.
The exterior of this book is amazing. Yes it really does look like a store cataloge. The inside does too. A map, item descriptions and coupons. Also there are some faux Scandinavian furnitire.
I remind you this is a novel, but while reading I felt it was more than that. If Orsk where a real place I would probably list it as a employee manual (not a bad thing but might be a good idea)
So some strange stuff has been happening at the Cuyahoga County Orsk. Amy is asked to stay over a night along with a few other employees to investigate what is causing all the strange happenings, and vandalism. Lots of strange stuff happen over the night. The Orsk you walk into in the morning will not be the same when you go home at night.
Again I loved this book, can't wait to read more from the author. Fingers crossed for a sequel.

Tic Tac Tome by Willy Yonkers. review
Tic Tac Tome by Willy Yonkers
4/5
This book is fun. Its not a book you would pick up when roaming the book store looking for a good read though. It would make a great road trip book,a stocking stuffer or something.
Do you remember the 'choose your own adventure' books? This is basically a choose your own adventure, but with the classic game of x's and o's
I had fun flipping through the pages back and forth trying to beat the book at tic tac toe.
This book has a small introduction, and a Q & A intro. You also get a brief history lesson, so you do learn something, which isn't bad. :)
So a
I just noticed part of my review is missing? where did it go? and why did it disappear? I should fix this. (8/1/14)

The Last Policeman/Countdown City by Ben H. Winters
I am reviewing both "The Last Policeman" and "Countdown City" both by Ben H. Winters
Sorry these took me so song to get up. I was reading them back to back. (Then in hopes not to run the plots together too much. lol)
I rated "The Last Policeman" 4 stars and "Countdown City" 3.5 both very good though.
The Last Policeman.
Set in the not to distant future a man named Hank Palace is investigating the death of a man in a McDonalds bathroom. It's suspected suicide. With an asteroid headed towards earth some turn to suicide. Hank believes this is no suicide, but a murder. Even with the world coming to an end Hank is determined to solve this case. A great mix of mystery and apocalyptic mayhem. This is well worth the read. Part one of a three part trilogy. Scary thing for me is I was reading it at the same time some of the dates mentioned in the beginning of the novel. (queue Twilight Zone theme)
Countdown City.
The world is ending, what's a better thing to do than solve the mystery of a missing person. That's what Detective Hank Palace is up to. While half the world is going "bucket list" he is still out doing his job. A friends cry to find her missing husband. But does he really want to be found? Hank is also struggling with this sister Nico who is having some issues of her own. It will be nice to see how everything comes together in the final installment.
