What would happen if you woke up in a wooded area, and forgot everything? I love psychological thrillers,and this was pretty thrilling. I liked the settings too. Some of the locations are real places. I haven't yet looked it up, but it sounds breathtaking. A nice wild ride. I do recommend this book |

Etta starts gambling,but that's only the beginning. I don't gamble, so I didn't get every little reference,but still was able to fully enjoy this novel. A very slow burning thriller,that I'm sure will be a great summer read for many. |

It started out so strong, but started to drag a little in the middle. I got lost at times, and felt it was moving a little slow. It picked up a little again towards the end, but still can't bring myself to rate it higher. Please still check this book out as it should not be missed. I love true crime, and cold cases are even better.
Paul Holes memoir of investigating the Golden State Killer was amazingly written. I couldn't put it down. As haunting as the case is, you still get drawn deep into it. So many times I felt like I was right there with him right with the case. It's very scary to know you never know who could be a killer, they're hiding in plain sight. The monsters under the bed really are real. Only they're not under the bed. They're your next door neighbor.
The Golden State Killer was able to hide so long,and that's scary to think about how people can get away with haunting crimes. Thanks to Paul's work on the case along with DNA analysis, and help from Michelle McNamara (who also has a book on the Golden State Killer 'I'll Be Gone In The Dark' ) He was able to be caught.
I'm very glad I was able to read this, and if you love true crime I really think you'll enjoy this.

This is my first read by Kiersten White.
I read the synopsis of this. It sounded so so good, don't get me wrong I did like this book, but I didn't love it. The idea of an abandoned amusement park, and a game of childhood hide and seek really drags you in.
So many times I was left hidden myself. I felt lost. By the end I was still almost wanting more. A little more of everything.
I do really love the cover for this book. Seeing it on Goodreads,and other online sources in full color is nice. (you don't get that with e-ink). So I know in person it will be extra beautiful.
I love the creepy mustardy yellow is. The black and red viny creepiness of the park. I feel it all just fits.
In all I give it 3 stars because I did enjoy it, I was thrilled just not completely to my expectations. If thr author writes another horror/thriller novel in the future, yes I'll still give it a chance.
