Drowning by TJ Newman (Review)

Thank you to the publisher for a copy to read and review. I loved this. I liked it more than 'Falling' it was incredibly fast-paced. I felt like I was trapped with all the characters waiting for rescue. I felt the plane fall, the water rise as it starts to flood the aircraft. Every move they made.
I just devoured the book. I wonder what TJ Newman will do next. I hope she keeps these airplane tragedies going. Although that might increase some fear in all of us. Some horror and thrills can be good sometimes. Right?
The cover is awesome as well, just like in 'falling'. The cover in any book I think really speaks a lot about a book. I know we've always been told to never judge a book by it's cover. But I disagree with that. The cover is the first thing a lot of us see. Even before a synopsis. It can speak a lot about the book. The cover can not only tell the genre of a book, or even the author if they use similar styles or the same designer, but it helps it bring life to books, and helps attract the reader. That's what attracted me to TJ Newman's books. (As well as many other authors works).

If you're a fan of 'Falling' TJ Newman's first novel, I highly highly suggest you check this one out. Now I read both of her books on solid ground, but if you really want a scared, read it on an airplane, or this one in the ocean.

Happy reading.

The Close (A Maeve Kerrigan Mystery) by Jane Casey (Review)

Thank you to the publisher for a copy to read and review.

This was my first book with Maeve Kerrigan as the protagonist. I have other books with her as lead detective on my TBR to read I just haven't read them yet. With that said I decided to start the journey.

I did enjoy this book? Yes.

Did I love it? No.

I do wonder if it's because not knowing more about Maeve that made me not like it a whole lot...and I should of started with book 1?

I did enjoy her character's relationship with her coworker. I think they worked really well as a team. I will look forward to reading Casey's other books starring her in hopes to learn more about her character.

This one just didn't fully hit the mark for me. I found myself putting it down a few times. To me it felt it moved slow. Or at least slower than I'm uses to.

Again, thank you to the publisher for a copy to review.

The Puzzle Master by Danielle Trussoni (Review)

Thank you to the publisher, and Netgalley for a copy to review.

This was so so good. It was incredible fast paced. I didn't want to put it down. I like puzzles myself (I'm not very good at them, but still enjoy them). This book was full of twists, turns, and surprises. Which is exactly what I like in a book. If you're a fan of thrillers and or puzzles I suggest you pick this one up.

The Handyman Method by Nick Cutter and Andrew F. Sullivan (Review)

Thank you to the publisher, and Netgalley for a chance to review this book.

Nick Cutter does it again. Another frightening read from him. This book was very haunting.  I didn't find it as disturbing as 'The Troop' but I still loved it.

I love this newer style of horror where technology is haunting, and no matter where we turn we can't escape it.  This was a big win, and I hope every horror fan runs to read this book. I didn't want to put it down.

The Vile Thing We Created by Robert P. Ottone (review)

A fantastic read. I don't have children, but I can only imagine this being even more scary to an expectant mother. Even though I don't have children, I love reading books with creepy kids in them. This sure was one. The book pulled me in from the start. I was frightened right along with the protagonists. I would not want to be around that kid one bit. Also, the cover. I can not leave this without mentioning the awesome cover art. I read this on kindle, so i may not of gotten the best look at it, but I love the grainy look to the photo, and the scratched out faces. It really turns up the creep factor.

I highly recommend this book if you like creepy kids. Like I said earlier I'm not a mother ( at least to a human child...I do have a cat) but if your a mother to be, or have young children, maybe wait this one out for a little bit. Unless you are expecting a little devil of your own.

I look forward to see what else Mr. Ottone puts out. Hopefully more horror goodness.
